Who this is for

Most visitors come home with hundreds of photos of England and very few of themselves. A holiday session fixes that. It works for:

• Solo travellers, who otherwise rely on selfies or strangers. This is a solo portrait photoshoot, from £200.
• Couples on a honeymoon, an anniversary trip or a first visit together. This is a couple photoshoot, from £250.
• Families, including grandparents on a once-in-a-lifetime trip. This is a family photoshoot, from £200.

There is no separate "tourist" package. You book the session that matches who is in the photos, in the place you are visiting.

Meeting points near landmarks

Your photographer will suggest a clear meeting point that is easy to find from your hotel or a station, and a short walking route with several backgrounds. Some examples:

• London: the South Bank gives a long, walkable stretch of river with views of Westminster and St Paul's. Pastel houses in Notting Hill are popular, but they are people's homes, so be quiet and keep off doorsteps. See portrait sessions in London, couples in London and families in London.
• Bath: the Royal Crescent, the Circus and Pulteney Bridge sit within an easy walk of each other. See Bath.

Working around the crowds

England's famous landmarks are busy for most of the day, especially in summer and at school holidays. Three things help:

1. Go early. Before about 9am, even central London is noticeably quieter.
2. Use angles, not emptiness. Your photographer can shoot from a lower or tighter angle, or use a side street with the landmark still in view, rather than waiting for a gap that never comes.
3. Choose the season. Spring and autumn usually mean fewer people and softer light than August.

Be realistic about covering two places in a day

We often get asked for a session in London in the morning and another in Oxford, Bath or Windsor in the afternoon. Usually it is not possible. The travel time eats into the session, the photographer would need to travel too, and the extra cost rarely makes sense. Pick one place per session. Within one area, such as the South Bank and Westminster, two nearby spots can often be covered in a longer session, which you can arrange with extra time from £100 per hour.

If you are touring several places, you could book one session in the place that matters most to you, or a separate session in each, with each quote covering its own travel.

Fitting a session into your trip

• Do not book it for the day you land. Jet lag and luggage do not make good photos.
• Allow a spare day in case the weather is poor, and let us know if your dates are flexible.

• Photos are delivered in a private online gallery, so you can download them wherever you are. The turnaround is confirmed in your quote.
