Keep your date flexible. If you can move your shoot a day either way, you have a better chance of the weather you want.
Dress in layers. It can be several degrees colder and windier on a fell than in the valley. Pack a warm layer you can hide for photos.
Wear proper footwear. Many paths are rocky and wet. Change into nicer shoes for key shots if you like.
Go early at popular spots. Car parks at Aira Force, Tarn Hows and Elterwater fill on sunny weekends.
Bring midge repellent for summer evenings near water.
Allow extra travel time. Roads and passes are narrow and slow. By train, Windermere station is reached via Oxenholme on the West Coast Main Line.
