Graduation Photography

Graduation photography is a portrait session for graduates, individually or as a group of friends or family, usually in gown and cap around the university or college on or near graduation day. It's for graduates who want relaxed, personal photographs in the places they studied, beyond the formal studio portrait.

Sessions start from £150, with professionally edited digital images delivered in a private online gallery. Group sessions for friends or family are available and priced to the group. Graduates finishing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree who want photographs of themselves in the places that shaped the last few years, with or without family. It suits groups of friends who want to split a session, and families travelling from abroad for the ceremony.

It also works for a session a day or two either side of the ceremony, when campuses are quieter and there is more time. If you're throwing a celebration afterwards, event photography can cover it.

Check your ceremony timings and when you collect and return your gown, then plan the session around them. Graduation days are busy, so a session before the ceremony or a day either side often gives quieter locations.

Universities usually set their own rules on photography inside ceremonies, and some colleges or buildings may need permission for professional photography; your photographer covers portraits outside the ceremony and will confirm what applies. Bring hair grips for the cap, comfortable shoes for walking between spots, and a list of family groupings you want.
