What is newborn photography?
Newborn photography, as offered through Snapshire, is a gentle lifestyle session of 90–120 minutes that photographs your new baby and your family as you are: feeds, cuddles, tiny hands, siblings meeting the baby. It is not prop-heavy or posed newborn photography; the baby's comfort sets the pace, and parents stay in control throughout.
Sessions start from £350, with professionally edited digital images delivered in a private online gallery. The longer time allows for feeds, changes and settling. Sessions are subject to photographer availability and suitable conditions, and are often held at home, where your baby is most settled.

How to prepare
Keep the room warm and pick the space with the best window light; your photographer will help. Feed your baby shortly before the session if you can, and have spare clothes, nappies and muslins nearby.
Choose simple, soft clothes for yourselves in plain colours, and a plain outfit or swaddle for the baby. Tidy only the corner you'll be photographed in. Most importantly, go at your baby's pace: if they need feeding or cuddling, the session pauses. You handle your baby; your photographer will never ask for a pose that isn't safe or comfortable.

Sessions booked through Snapshire are lifestyle sessions: no risky or propped poses, parents handle the baby, and the session pauses whenever your baby needs feeding or comfort. You can stop at any time.
When should we book?
Ideally during pregnancy, with a provisional date around a couple of weeks after your due date. How that date can move if your baby arrives early or late is confirmed in your quote.
Does the baby need to be a certain age?
No. Lifestyle sessions do not depend on the baby being very sleepy or curled up, so the first few weeks all work. Tell us your baby’s age when you enquire.
Can the session happen at our home?
Yes, and many families prefer it. Your photographer will use natural light from a window and bring minimal kit.
What if our baby was born early or needs special care?
Tell us and we will work around your circumstances. The session only goes ahead when conditions are suitable for your baby and for you.
