Unlike the formal Royal Parks, much of Hampstead Heath is left to grow. Long meadow grass, wild edges and ancient trees give a loose, natural look that suits candid couple and maternity sessions, particularly in summer when the grass turns golden.
The view
Parliament Hill looks south-east across the whole city. It is at its most dramatic in the hour before sunset, when the towers catch the light, and for proposals at blue hour, when the skyline lights up.
Architecture

Getting there and around
Tube: Hampstead station (Northern line, Edgware branch) is in the heart of the village. It is very deep, so allow time for the lifts. Belsize Park, on the same branch, is a short walk to the south.
Overground: Hampstead Heath and Gospel Oak stations are closest to Parliament Hill and the southern edge of the Heath.
On foot: walking across the Heath from the village to Parliament Hill takes around 20 to 30 minutes, with Kenwood a similar walk to the north. Plan the route with your photographer so you don't use up the session walking.
Driving: parking near the Heath and at Kenwood is limited and may be charged. Public transport is easier.
