For business photography, Reading's offices and business parks offer modern glass, clean lobbies and meeting rooms with good daylight, and your photographer can bring a portable backdrop for consistent headshots. The town centre around the Kennet, with the waterfront of The Oracle, gives a modern urban look for personal branding.

For personal sessions, the historic core is small but distinctive. Forbury Gardens is a Victorian formal garden with lawns, bedding and a bandstand, dominated by the Maiwand Lion, a memorial to soldiers of the Royal Berkshire Regiment. Next door, the Abbey ruins are massive flint walls with gaps and arches that frame portraits well, and the restored Abbey Gateway stands nearby.

The Thames at Caversham is the green option. Christchurch Meadows stretch along the north bank near Caversham Bridge, with open grass and river views. Caversham Court Gardens have restored terraced gardens down to the water, and View Island, a small nature area between weirs, has footbridges and wild riverbanks. The Thames Path runs east from here toward Sonning, with quieter meadows.

Spring and summer are the easiest seasons for outdoor sessions; in winter, indoor and office work comes into its own.

Reading is a major rail junction. Fast trains reach London Paddington in around half an hour, and the Elizabeth line runs through to central London without a change. There are direct trains to Oxford, Guildford and Gatwick Airport, and a coach link to Heathrow.

The station is a few minutes' walk from Forbury Gardens and the Abbey ruins, and the Oracle is a short walk south. Caversham's riverside is around fifteen to twenty minutes' walk north across the Thames.

For office sessions on business parks near the M4, your photographer will usually drive, and the quote will reflect travel and parking.

For business sessions, the main thing is logistics: book a room with good daylight, send a schedule of who is being photographed, and let us know about dress codes or brand colours. Group sessions run faster when people arrive in small batches.

For outdoor sessions, Forbury Gardens is busy at lunchtime on weekdays, so mornings are calmer. The Reading Festival over the August bank holiday weekend fills the town and its transport. The Thames meadows can be waterlogged or flooded in winter.

The Oracle, office campuses and hotels have their own rules on professional photography, and the Abbey ruins have set opening hours; your photographer will confirm what applies.
