Photographing Harrogate
Harrogate is a town of open space and gentle light. The Stray gives uncluttered backgrounds and lots of sky, with avenues of trees that throw dappled shade in summer and turn gold in autumn. Getting there and around
Harrogate station is in the town centre, on the line between Leeds and York via Knaresborough. There are frequent trains from Leeds, and a limited number of direct services from London King's Cross; otherwise change at Leeds or York. Check current timetables.
Leeds Bradford Airport is a short drive to the south-west.
The Stray, Valley Gardens and the Montpellier Quarter are all walkable from the station and from each other. RHS Harlow Carr is on the western edge of town, reached by car, bus or a walk through Valley Gardens and the woodland beyond. Knaresborough is one stop by train or a short drive east.
